THE BACK STORY

In mid-1400,  a particular settlement was founded on the west coast of Africa by Portuguese explorers, who referred to it as ‘Serra Leoa’, Portuguese for ‘Lioness Mountains’, a place now known as the present-day Republic of Sierra Leone.

But up until then, the life and culture beyond the ‘Lioness Mountains’ was hidden from the rest of the world. It was a jungle no one dared to enter a lush forest with free-flowing rivers and close-knit villages

In particular, the Matonka village, a small remote village tucked away deep in the heart of the lands most famous, Matonka Forest. It was home to the Matonka Tribe, a magical place where once upon a time, the tribes lived peacefully with the fairies of the forest. That was, until…

A misunderstanding between the fairies and the humans brought a bitter battle that led to the banishment of all fairies from the village. A curse was planted at the village entrance to stop entry and exit, and the village boundaries were obscured. The village was in effect invisible to the naked eye. It was called the ‘Great Curse of the Goblin’ or simply the ‘Goblin Curse’.
